We wanted the title track to look the way it feels at 2am — sodium light, wet concrete, nobody around. Director Ines Kaufmann shot it across two nights inside a decommissioned Brooklyn transit hall, on 16mm, with a single moving light rig the band operated themselves between takes.
There is no lip-sync in the second half. Once the modular takes over at 2:40 the camera simply stays with Junie’s snare hand until the tape runs out. Everything you hear is the album mix, untouched; everything you see happened in real time.
Behind the shoot
The hall had no power, so the crew ran the whole night off two generators parked on Rivington Street — the same block where Nightform was recorded. The final frame is take one of night two, right before the rain came through the roof.
